Description

These wool felt coaster from Auraque are hand stitched from felt balls and are perfect for use underneath your favourite mug or cup.  Available in either dark grey, light grey, natural or navy blue.  All of the colours except the navy are the natural shade of the wool.  The navy coaster has been dyed but using azo free dyes.  The mat has been carefully hand-felted from 100% raw sheep wool using soap and water.  The felt is hand rolled into balls, left to dry in the sun on the workshop roof and then hand-stitched in the workshop.  The colours are completely natural and have a lovely texture and depth to them.  Wool is a natural insulator and it resists odours due to its antibacterial properties and it is also one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world, being both renewable and biodegradable.  It also requires relatively little water for its production and all wool is mulesing free.  The mats are handmade in a small workshop in their Kathmandu Valley in Nepal for Auraque who have been working with the group of women who make them since 2019.
